A few hours at the public noodling area in Coober Pedy

Tonight, I enjoyed spending some time with a guest on a private opal hunting tour at the Coober Pedy safe public noodling area. Located on Jewellers Shop Rd, this site was an active opal field until the early 80's and still allows visitors to find some nice pieces while noodling!

I'm keen to hear from the guest once they get this big chunk with nice colour cleaned up!

This video shows the smaller pieces of the parcel, those which can fit in our opal hunting kit's "treasure bag". The bigger chunks went home with the guest in a traditional Coober Pedy Greek yoghurt tub!

It was a nice night, digging under the stars. Never mind that it was a "feels like" 4 degrees Celcius and the wee hours of the morning when we wrapped up, you lose sense of time when noodling in Coober Pedy, especially when you're finding a few bits of colour!
